About

The Person Behind Lone Vigil Press

I’ve always been more comfortable doing things my own way.

I’m a tradesman by background, a writer by choice, and someone who believes there’s still value in slowing down, thinking for yourself, and learning how to do things with your own two hands.

I’m also a husband and a father of three kids, with a good dog keeping us company along the way. Family is at the center of what I do, and they remind me that preparedness, practical skills, and a more independent way of living aren’t just abstract ideas—they’re part of building a good life together.

Lone Vigil Press started with a simple idea: useful knowledge shouldn’t be complicated, expensive, or buried beneath fear and noise.

What began as an interest in practical preparedness has grown into something bigger. Writing, publishing, bookselling, and sharing ideas that encourage people to become a little more capable and a little more independent.

I’m not here to pretend I have all the answers. I’m still learning, still building, and still figuring things out as I go.

I’ve spent much of my working life in the trades, where preparation matters, mistakes have consequences, and there’s no substitute for knowing what you’re doing. Those experiences shaped how I look at the world and what I want this business to represent.

I believe in honest work, simple living, good books, and the kind of knowledge that stays useful long after the internet goes quiet.

Lone Vigil Press is my way of putting those beliefs into something tangible.

Whether you’re here for a book, a practical resource, or simply something worth thinking about, I’m glad you found your way here.

Welcome to Lone Vigil Press.

Preparedness without panic.

One thing to try this week

Walk through your home with someone you live with, the way a tradesman walks a job site before starting work. Together, pick one meeting spot outside, like the mailbox or a neighbor’s tree, where everyone goes if you ever have to leave in a hurry. Say it out loud so everyone remembers it.
